What would I do as a councillor?
Control change before it controls us
Press for growth plans that match real infrastructure and funding, not wishful thinking.
Support flexible planning tools so council can adjust quickly when things change.
Make sure the community’s voice is part of decisions on growth, water reform, and other big shifts.
Focus on practical solutions so Cambridge and Waipā are prepared, not left scrambling.
Test the true costs of projects
Require honest budgets and timelines right from the start.
Make sure risks and cost changes are openly reported, not hidden.
Press for independent checks on big projects so surprises are less likely.
Use my experience in global infrastructure to spot problems early and keep projects on track.
Improve transparency
Use modern AI tools to give residents short, easy-to-read summaries instead of long reports.
Back simple dashboards that show key facts about council projects at a glance.
Make sure updates are available online and shared in the community, not buried away.
Keep the focus on openness so residents can quickly see how decisions connect to long-term plans.
Why vote for me?
I’m asking for your vote because I bring something different to this election — a proven track record of making big, complex projects work in the real world, and the commitment to keep rates fair while making sure Cambridge gets the basics right.
For 25 years, across multiple countries, I’ve worked on billion-dollar programs where candour, discipline, and clear communication made the difference between success and failure. In London, I led the controls on a massive tunnel under the Thames. The official estimate was £2 billion. My team and I said it would cost just over £4 billion. Seventeen years later, it opened almost exactly where we said it would — because we were transparent, tested the numbers properly, and managed change with discipline.
That’s the same approach I’ll bring to Cambridge and Waipā. I don’t just talk about transparency — I’ve delivered it at the highest level. I don’t just warn about costs — I’ve been proven right. I don’t just talk about managing change — I’ve done it, leading teams of hundreds and keeping projects on track under pressure.
My family and I chose Cambridge as our home because of its strong community spirit and great quality of life. I want to protect that by making sure growth doesn’t run ahead of infrastructure, that rates remain affordable, and that the essentials — safe roads, reliable water, clean parks — are delivered before council spends on extras.
I’m offering not just promises, but the skills and experience to actually deliver them.
If you want a councillor who doesn’t just point out problems but fixes them, I’d be honoured to earn your vote.
